Abstract
This paper takes as its starting-point Anna Carabelli¡¯s discussion of Keynes¡¯s concept of tragic happiness. The purpose is to explore the non-dualistic nature of Keynes¡¯s conceptualisations with respect to real subject matter. Beyond the apparent paradox of tragic happiness we explore in turn Keynes¡¯s non-dualistic conceptualisation of ontology and epistemology, scepticism (or uncertainty) relative to certainty, and subjectivity relative to objectivity. The incommensurability both of heterogeneous moral considerations and of heterogeneous reasons underpins Keynes¡¯s theory of uncertainty. Here we pursue the discussion of incommensurability further in terms of different approaches to economics.
