Abstract
The new Scottish government established the Scottish Broadcasting Commission in 2007 to map out the future for the broadcasting sector in the country. The Commission¡¯s report set out some radical proposals for a Scottish TV station and attempted to galvanise the media and political institutions to improve the economic and cultural status of broadcasting within the UK media as a whole. This article examines the report of the Commission and its implications for broadcasting at a time of considerable change within UK broadcasting and territorial politics.
